Paintings by Don Baylor

"I am a Stroudsburg native.  I taught English at Stroudsburg High School for 30 years and served in the United States Army in 1969-71.  I earned an M.S. in aquatic biology, and since 1980 have worked as a biologist with Aquatic Resource Consulting.  A fly fisherman and tier since age 11, I wrote the booklet Pocono and Upper Delaware Hatches, was published in Rod & Reel, and authored over 60 technical reports for Aquatic Resource Consulting.  I conducted a course available on a 3DVD set - Trout Stream Entomology & Fly Tying. In 2019 I published a book titled The Brodhead; an Historic Trout Fishery.

As an undergraduate, I studied drawing and painting for a few semesters.  After college, teaching, the Army, graduate studies, and raising a family took me away from painting for a long time.  A few years ago my daughters gave me a gift of painting supplies, prompting me to get started again.  My return to painting has added a fantastic new dimension to my life-long enjoyment of nature. Adventures in the natural world inspire my painting.  I have had the privilege of hiking, paddling, and fishing in beautiful areas of the Poconos, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Alaska, and Quebec.   Many of my works are records of times spent in special places with special friends."
